Scripture – Romans 14:7-9

7 For we do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

Prayer Focus: These are verses I often use at either graveside or columbarium services. I find great comfort in Paul’s assurance that whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. As he writes earlier in this letter, there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Christ is Lord of both the dead and the living. As you pray, may you find comfort and strength in this assurance today.
