Scripture – Philippians 3:8-9:
8 More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith.
Prayer Focus: Paul literally has lost everything. He is writing to the Philippians from prison. He has lost political power and social standing; he has lost wealth and possessions. He has lost all things, and yet, he says he can regard all of it as rubbish, because he has found Christ. I wonder what we really gain from all of our earthly “things,” if we don’t have Christ? Pray today that we might not get distracted by material gain but, instead, continue to seek Christ’s presence in our lives.
