Scripture – 1 Timothy 6:9-10

9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.

Prayer Focus: I have often heard verse 10 misquoted to say that money is the root of all evil. The scriptures actually say it is “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” Desiring to be rich, seeking to protect and guard possessions and wealth, turns us inward, makes us suspicious and self-interested. Money is a tool and it can be used to distance us from others or to bless others. How will you use your money today? How does your answer to that question point to what you love?
