4 I do not sit with the worthless,
nor do I consort with hypocrites;
5 I hate the company of evildoers
and will not sit with the wicked.
Prayer Focus: In contrast to walking with integrity or faithfulness with the Lord, the psalmist describes sitting with the worthless, hypocrites, evildoers, and the wicked. As evidence for the psalmist’s faithful walk, they lift up a strategy of separation. While we recognize the call to follow Christ into the sin and suffering of the world so that there might be redemption, pray for discernment as to when it is time to protect yourself from harm and when it is time to risk yourself for the whole world that Jesus loves.
