25 Therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, keep for your servant my father David that which you promised him, saying, ‘There shall never fail you a successor before me to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children look to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’
Prayer Focus: Solomon continues his prayer with a “therefore.” As God has been faithful in the past, Solomon asks God to be faithful in the future. This is not only a prayer for the people of Israel, this is a personal prayer for Solomon. God promised there would always be a successor of David to sit on the throne of Israel. Solomon now sits on that throne as the son of David. So, he is praying that God will continue to be faithful to his own children. What do you pray for your children or your grandchildren? Be intentional in your prayers today and ask for God’s faithfulness to your children and grandchildren. There might not be a better prayer that you can offer for them.
