Wednesday, May 25: Scripture – Acts 16:22-24
22 The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates had them stripped of their clothing and ordered them to be beaten with rods.
23 After they had given them a severe flogging, they threw them into prison and ordered the jailer to keep them securely.
24 Following these instructions, he put them in the innermost cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.
Prayer Focus: The crowd joins in attacking Paul and Silas. It is amazing how quickly a crowd can become a mob, especially when they are convinced they are being threatened. The magistrates order Paul and Silas to be stripped and beaten and thrown into prison. The jailer puts them in the innermost cell and fastens their feet in the stocks. While the jailer is only doing his job, he participates in the injustice of this scene. Pray for those who find themselves a cog in the wheel of injustice. Pray that justice might be done and all who knowingly or unknowingly perpetuate injustice might be brought to repentance.
