Wednesday, May 18: Scripture – John 14:22-24
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.
Prayer Focus: This section of Jesus’ final discourse with his disciples is structured around questions the disciples ask. Here Judas (not Iscariot) asks how Jesus will reveal himself to the disciples, but not to the world. Jesus says that he and the Father will come and make their home with those who love. The “world” or those things working against God’s plans and purposes will not see because the world does not love nor keep the commandments. As we love, our eyes are opened so that we might see the Lord dwelling with us. Pray that you might love and that you might see the Lord.
