Wednesday, May 14th: Scripture – Revelation 12:5-6

5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a scepter of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne,

6 and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, so that there she can be nourished for one thousand two hundred sixty days.

Prayer Focus: The child, the Messiah, is born and immediately “snatched away and taken to God and to his throne.” Birth, death, and resurrection – the entire gospel in a single verse. The dragon had waited to devour the child and was unsuccessful. The child is taken to God – death, resurrection, and ascension. The woman flees to the wilderness, a place of refuge and preparation, to wait a brief time for the eschatological end that is to come. Pray that you might summarize the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus in a way that makes sense to you. How would you talk about this life and world altering event today?
