4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good
and to those who are upright in their hearts.
5 But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways,
the Lord will lead away with evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel!
Prayer Focus: The psalmist here encourages us to pray for the Lord to act, to respond to those who are good and upright in heart with goodness. May we know the goodness of the Lord, not just because we seek to be and do good. May we know the goodness of the Lord for the Lord is good. Pray for this confidence to continue the Lenten journey.
“Psalm 125 was written by a person who did not have anesthetics in his hospital or aspirin in his medicine closet and whose government did not have hundreds of billions of dollars to spend on national defense. Pain and suffering were most certainly part of his daily life. Why did they not destroy his confidence?” Peterson, 82.
