Wednesday, July 20 Scripture – Psalm 56:5-7
5 All day long they seek to injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They stir up strife, they lurk, they watch my steps. As they hoped to have my life,
7 so repay them for their crime; In wrath cast down the peoples, O God.
Prayer Focus: Some days all we can do is see the bad. There is a 24-hour news cycle playing on our screens of all the ways in which we as humans get things wrong these days. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, overpowered, and outnumbered. The psalmist feels this, and is expressing those feelings directly to God. Pray for all those in our community and in the world that feel hopeless and afraid, that they might be strengthened by the Spirit.
