“God said to Abraham, ‘As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall give rise to nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.’”
                                                                         Genesis 17:15-16

In December 2007, I made a decision that would forever change my life. I loaded up my car and headed for South Carolina. I was leaving behind my home that I had known since I was twelve years old. I was 25 years old and had recently quit my job after two years, as I had been accepted into a Master of Social Work Program in South Carolina. I was going to live in a new city with my mother and didn’t know anyone outside my family. At the time, I didn’t know exactly what direction my life would take or the many blessings that awaited me. The one thing that has always led me is my faith. Despite all the uncertainty, I felt God calling me in a new direction.

It would be almost one year after I moved to South Carolina that I would meet the love of my life, and we recently celebrated fourteen years of marriage. In 2018, we received the most special blessing, our daughter. My wife’s pregnancy wasn’t easy at the end, and I thank God each day for the loving care of those who comforted us during that time.

As I reflect over the last sixteen years, I’m truly amazed at the direction that my life has taken and the many blessings God has bestowed upon me. We must continue to remember to trust in the Lord and the path set before us, even when we can’t see the finished picture.

Prayer: God, please help us to remember the many blessings you provide us on a daily basis, and may we always seek your guidance when we face difficult decisions. Amen
