9 When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three of them, and though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Prayer Focus: The smell of a charcoal fire…fish cooking…and freshly broken bread. Smell is deeply ingrained in our memories. The disciples came ashore, and I’m sure their memories came rushing back to them. The day they werefishing and Jesus first called them by name. The feeding of the five thousand with just a few fish and a loaf of bread. The many meals they shared together. So many memories. As they smelled the fire and hauled in their fish, their eyes were being opened, they were beginning to see Christ again. Reflect today on the last time you encountered Christ in your life.
