Wednesday, April 27: Scripture – John 21:7-8
7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on some clothes, for he was naked, and jumped into the sea.
8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, only about a hundred yards off.
Prayer Focus: This is one of my favorite images in the entire bible. The disciple whom Jesus loved recognizes Jesus. And Simon Peter gets so excited that he puts on his clothes and jumped into the sea to swim to shore. He’s not going to meet Jesus naked, but he’s also not going to wait until they can get the boat and the fish to shore, so he “puts on some clothes … and jumped into the sea.” What would you do if you knew Jesus was waiting for you around the corner today? Would you break into a run? Would you change your clothes? Would you fall to your knees? He is waiting for you – pray that you might respond.
