Wednesday, April 20: Scripture – Acts 5:21b-23
When the high priest and those with him arrived, they called together the council and the whole body of the elders of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 But when the temple police went there, they did not find them in the prison; so they returned and reported,
23 “We found the prison securely locked and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside.”
Prayer Focus: When the high priest and the leaders arrive ready to begin the trial of the apostles, they send to have them brought from prison. But just as the tomb had been empty on Easter morning, now the prison is empty as well. The doors were locked, and the guards were there, but they found no one inside. Pray today for those who try to keep the good news of the gospel locked up. Pray that they might find their minds opened to the uncontainable work of reconciliation and redemption that God is doing in this world. Pray that they might turn the key because the gospel is not where they think they have safely secured it anyway.
