Tuesday, September 13: Scripture – Luke 16:3-4
3 Then the manager said to himself, ‘What will I do, now that my master is taking the position away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.
4 I have decided what to do so that, when I am dismissed as manager, people may welcome me into their homes.’
Prayer Focus: This manager is in a tough position. He has been called out about his dishonest practices at work and is afraid for his future. How often do we find ourselves staring fear in the face? Whether it is from our own mistakes or just from the circumstances of life, we all end up being scared of something. And what does this manager do? He decides to act in a way that will connect him to people. When we are afraid, it is easy to feel isolated, yet God promises that we are never truly alone. Forging relationships and making connections with people around us remind us of God’s constant presence and care for our lives. Pray this week that you might foster connections with people around you and in doing so, also be reminded of your connection to God.
