2 He is able to deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is subject to weakness;
3 and because of this he must offer sacrifice for his own sins as well as for those of the people.
Prayer Focus: The high priest is not a robot performing his functions (in ancient Israel it was always a male priest). No, the high priest was a person and as a person, he was also a sinner – just like you and me. So the high priest had to atone for his own sins along with everyone else’s. Join me in praying for all pastors and priests today. Give thanks for their gifts and pray that they may all know the need for confession of their sins. May they find themselves at the foot of the cross and become recipients of God’s amazing grace. For they cannot serve without it.
