16 “Brothers and sisters, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus, 17 for he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.”
Prayer Focus: During Lent we attempted to understand Judas’ decision to betray Jesus as stemming from dashed expectations and a broken heart. Peter reminds those gathered that Judas had been a part of the disciples and had shared in their common ministry; and yet the role of one who would betray Jesus had been foretold in scripture. The fact that someone had to betray Jesus to set in motion his death and resurrection to save us all, does not make it less tragic for that person to have been Judas. Pray for those who find themselves trapped in tragic circumstances beyond their control. Pray that you might come alongside as you are able to bring a word of hope.
