Tuesday, May 23: Scripture – Numbers 11:18-20
18 And say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wailed in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “If only we had meat to eat! Surely it was better for us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.
19 You shall eat not only one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days,
20 but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you—because you have rejected the Lord who is among you and have wailed before him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’
Prayer Focus: In addition to bringing other leaders alongside Moses, God also responds to the people’s complaints. Their complaint is that life was better when they were slaves in Egypt. They are tired of eating manna. At least in Egypt they had meat to eat. God promises to give the people so much meat that they won’t be able to eat it all and it will become loathsome to them. Probably not the response the people were hoping for. So, be careful what you pray for today. You just might get it and more!
