Prayer Focus: In response to their grumbling, Jesus does not enter into an argument with the religious leaders. No, he tells them a story. Actually he tells them three stories and we are focused on the final one this week. It begins, “There was a man who had two sons.” You might know where the story is going because we typically call this parable by the name associated with one of the sons. But from the beginning, Jesus tells us who the parable is really about: a man who had two sons. Pray that you might hear this parable with fresh ears this week. How does it change what you’ve always known if you remember it is a story about a father?
