Throughout the months of June and July, our daily devotions will be invitations to pray, perhaps in familiar ways and sometimes in new ways. This week as we prepare to celebrate communion in worship on July 2nd, we invite you to join us in praying some of our favorite mealtime prayers and if there is a story about why.

I invite you to pray a prayer my grandfather once offered at a church supper when called upon unexpectedly by the pastor to offer the blessing: “Lord, we thank you for this food; may it help to keep us alive. But please let me go through the line first, because there are 100 people here and only food for 75. Amen.”
