3 And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4 My speech and my proclamation were made not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
Prayer Focus: Paul does not want the Corinthians to believe the gospel just because he was eloquent in proclaiming it. He wants them to believe because they have received a gift of the Spirit and the power of God. In a similar way, the hymn “Lift High the Cross,” points not to our own efforts or eloquence, but to God’s saving acts in Jesus Christ. Pray that your words and your actions might point others to Christ today.
