John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water, but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Prayer Focus: As the people are looking for a Messiah, John is an obvious candidate. In his ministry he has already been baptizing people, preaching, as well as even gathering disciples. John is not the Messiah, but everything he does in his life’s work points to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. We might ask ourselves if our lives point to Jesus Christ. Does all we say and do lead people to want to know Christ better? Pray today that like John, all of our lives might direct people towards Christ.
