2 As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,
“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way,
3 the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
make his paths straight,’”
4 So John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Prayer Focus: As we discussed last year, this gospel story of Jesus does not happen in a vacuum; it is a part of God’s ongoing story. The prophet Isaiah points to one who prepares the way for Jesus. In the wilderness a voice cries out to prepare the way. How can you prepare the way for the good news of the Lord today? Pray that you might cry out with a good word.
