Tuesday, February 22: Scripture – Luke 9:21-22
21 He sternly ordered and commanded them not to tell anyone,
22 saying, “The Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
Prayer Focus: Peter has answered correctly that Jesus is the Messiah, but Jesus’ response is not to pat him on the back. Instead, he tells the disciples not to tell anyone. The reason is that the Son of Man must undergo suffering, rejection, death, and resurrection. But the time has not yet come for all those things to be put into motion. Plus, I doubt the disciples really understand what Jesus is talking about here, so they are commanded not to talk about who Jesus really is. Pray that you might wait for the right time to tell someone about Jesus and who he really is. It is the best news in the world, but wait for the right time to share it.
