You remember our labor and toil, brothers and sisters; we worked night and day so that we might not burden any of you while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and God also, how pure, upright, and blameless our conduct was toward you believers.
As you know, we dealt with each one of you like a father with his children,
urging and encouraging you and pleading that you lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
Prayer Focus: On Sunday, we will mark All Saints Day in worship and these verses will be the preaching text. Paul reminds the Thessalonians that they urged, encouraged, and even pleaded with them to “lead a life worthy of God.” As we think about the beloved saints in our lives and in our church, what do you think made their life worthy of God? We do not earn God’s grace or favor and we certainly do not deserve it; but Paul indicates there is a form of Christian life worthy of God that we might live. Pray that you might begin thinking about this life worthy of God today. What might that look like for you?
