Thursday, November 18: Scripture – John 18:35-36
35 Pilate replied, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.”
Prayer Focus: Jesus says that his Kingdom is not from this world. I doubt many of the teenagers today say that anything is “out of this world!” but Jesus is trying to indicate that his Kingdom is different from the threat Pilate fears. Jesus is a threat, no doubt about that, but not from soldiers who are going to fight to keep him from being handed over to the Jews. So what kind of kingdom is Jesus talking about? Pray that you might seek to understand Jesus’ kingdom today.
