Thursday, May 25: Scripture – Numbers 11:24-25
24 So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he gathered seventy of the elders of the people and placed them all around the tent.
25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him and took some of the spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders, and when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But they did not do so again.
Prayer Focus: The remainder of the verses we read this week return to the question of leadership and the spirit of the Lord. God provides meat for the people at the end of Numbers 11. In the same way, God does exactly what God told Moses about leadership. The Lord comes down and speaks to those who have been chosen. Some of the spirit that was on Moses was put on the elders and they prophesied. The spirit gave them words of prophecy. Pray for the words of the spirit today. Pray that you might speak a word from the Lord to someone who needs to hear it today. For the spirit rests upon you.
