6 Then I saw between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders a Lamb standing as if it had been slaughtered, with seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of the one who was seated on the throne.
Prayer Focus: John has heard that the Lion of Judah has conquered. And yet, what he sees is not a strong and mighty lion, but a Lamb standing as if it had been slaughtered. Several commentators suggest that the Lamb that John sees is not a full grown ram or ewe, it is a “beanie baby” lamb, one who is small and weak. How could this lamb have conquered? How could this lamb that was slaughtered be worthy? This is what Revelation shows us as promised to each of the seven churches: It is only the power of vulnerable love that can bring healing. “Winning” has been redefined by the cross. We are looking for a military leader or a strong man to conquer for us, but Jesus conquered by the cross and resurrection. The lamb stands even though it bears the signs of its slaughter. Pray that you might find strength in weakness today.
