Thursday, June 29
Throughout the months of June and July, our daily devotions will be invitations to pray, perhaps in familiar ways and sometimes in new ways. This week as we prepare to celebrate communion in worship on July 2nd, we invite you to join us in praying some of our favorite mealtime prayers and if there is a story about why.

Franny and I were having Christmas night dinner with our son and his family. I was asked to say the blessing which I was happy to do. We all held hands and bowed our heads as I said, “Let us pray. Gracious and loving God.” Our five-year-old granddaughter interrupted, “Papa! You’re saying it WRONG!”
I looked at her with a startled look. Finally, I said, “Alright, you tell us the right way.” She bowed her head and began, “God is great, God is good. Let us thank him for our food…”
