Thursday, June 23: Scripture – 1 Samuel 10:5-6
5 After that you shall come to Gibeath-elohim, at the place where the Philistine garrison is; there, as you come to the town, you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the shrine with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre playing in front of them; they will be in a prophetic frenzy.
6 Then the spirit of the Lord will possess you, and you will be in a prophetic frenzy along with them and be turned into a different person.
Prayer Focus: These verses are the point of reading this text this week – Saul will be possessed by the spirit of the Lord, and he will be turned into a different person. Turned into a different person? Could that really be true? The spirit will give Saul powers he did not possess before, namely a spirit of tongues which cause him to fall into a prophetic frenzy. He will receive powers that unite him with this band of prophets he has never met before. Pray that you might be possessed by the spirit of the Lord today. Pray that you might, by the spirit, be empowered to do something you could never do just on your own.
