Thursday, February 27th: Scripture – Luke 9:32-33

Thursday, February 27th: Scripture – Luke 9:32-33

32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

Prayer Focus: Have you ever woken up from a nap or a long night’s sleep and been disoriented? Not quite sure where you were or what was happening? It seems that Peter, John, and James find themselves in this situation on the mountain. They become fully awake and are still not quite sure what’s happening, Peter offers to put up three shelters. Are these monuments to remember the moment? Are they places for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah to reside so that they can remain on the mountain? Are they locations where those seeking wisdom and guidance can return whenever there is a need? Perhaps a bit of all three. Pray that when you do not know what to say, you might open your ears instead of your mouth. Just take in the wonder of it all.
