Thursday, August 26: Scripture – Mark 7:6-7

6 He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;

7 in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.’

Prayer Focus: You might know that the word hypocrite traces its roots to Greek stage actors who wore masks to portray a certain role in a play. So, it was literally pretending to be someone other than the person you really are. We all wear masks to hide our true selves from others. We guard our words, we change our actions, we seek to please as opposed to tell the truth. Pray that your heart might be true to the Lord today and that your actions will follow your heart.
