Thursday, August 25: Scripture – Luke 14:8-9
8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host,
9 and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, ‘Give this person your place,’ and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place.
Prayer Focus: Jesus tells a parable, a story designed to tease our minds into active thought, about finding a place at a wedding banquet. Do not fail to look at the seating chart. Find the table with your number on it. Do not just go to the head table and sit down next to the groom or the bride. The host will come and tell you to move because that place is reserved for someone else. Pray that you might not think more highly of yourself and your place.
