Thursday, August 18: Scripture – Mark 6:35-36
35 When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late;
36 send them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.”
Prayer Focus: The disciples come to Jesus with the same compassion for the crowd that Jesus has been showing all day. It is late, they are in the middle of nowhere, so we should send them away to get something to eat. It’s a practical concern and a practical answer. Often this is the first step toward something amazing by God – do the next best practical thing. Look at the needs around you today. What is one practical thing you can do to help someone today? You don’t have to feed 5000 people, just feed one. Pray for the courage and the wisdom to identify one practical step for you to take today.
