Thursday, April 28: Scripture – John 21:9-11
9 When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish on it, and bread.
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”
11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three of them; and though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Prayer Focus: They saw a charcoal fire there, with fish on it and bread. A charcoal fire – do you remember the last time one of those was mentioned in the Gospel of John? In the courtyard of the high priest when Peter denied Jesus three times. I’m sure the smell of charcoal burning brought Peter immediately back to that moment. As you remember your sins today, as you remember when you denied Jesus, know that there is more than one charcoal fire in scripture. Those memories might be the opportunity to begin again. Pray for a new beginning and forgiveness today.
