Pilate asked him, “What is truth?”
Prayer Focus: Pilate’s final deflection. This whole conversation Jesus has been extending invitations to Pilate, trying to help him understand that he does not need to cater to the powers of this world. Here in his final question we have his answer…Pilate isn’t letting his guard down. Either he can’t see what Jesus is offering, or he sees it, and he will not allow himself to receive it. We do not get any more of the conversation after this, Jesus is silent and Pilate heads back to the crowd to declare that he cannot find a case against Jesus. Pilate has made his choice. Pray today that we might make our choices with faith in Jesus Christ, and hope for Christ’s Kingdom.
