Sunday, January 8: Scripture – Matthew 2:11-12
11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.
Prayer Focus: The magi worship the child and then give their gifts. Worship leads to generosity. It changes us, in the same way that the magi left for their own country by another road. Pray that as you worship today your heart might be opened to new avenues of generosity. Pray for the elders and deacons ordained and installed today, that they might lead our congregation in new ways of worship and generosity in the year ahead.
