13 People were bringing children to him in order that he might touch them, and the disciples spoke sternly to them. 14 But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 15 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.
Prayer Focus: If you’ve ever spent any time with a child you know they like to ask questions. Even when I answer my daughter’s questions, she responds by asking, “why?” Children are in a constant state of curiosity. They wonder, they imagine, they inquire, they believe, their minds are open to the possibility of well…anything. Jesus says we are to receive the kingdom of God like children, meaning we are to live in a state of constant learning. We are to live with the same sense of wonder, curiosity, and imagination. Only with our minds and hearts open to the possibility of the kingdom, can we receive it. Pray today that you might continue to learn each and every day just like children do.
