After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.
Prayer Focus: You ought to wash one another’s feet. As Jesus has done for us, we ought to do for one another. Thinking about this command, I’m curious as to why the church did not adopt foot washing as a sacrament with communion and baptism since Jesus commanded his disciples to wash feet. But then I remember my own aversion to having my feet touched and I understand. Our Lord and Teacher washes feet. Our Lord and Teacher connects us through acts of service. Pray that you might serve someone else in need today. And pray for our youth as they lead us in worship. I know that I can’t wait to see how God will work through them today!
