Saturday, September 9: Scripture – Psalm 149:6-9a
6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands,
7 to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters
and their nobles with chains of iron,
9 to execute on them the judgment decreed.
Prayer Focus: In some ways it seems like these verses are a switch from the previous verses’ call to praise the Lord as the theme shifts to vengeance, punishment, binding, and judgment. But for a people oppressed, deliverance is a reason for praise. For those afflicted by injustice, the establishment of justice is a reason to praise. Pray that you might see beyond your own circumstances today in order to appreciate the call to praise the Lord heard from those around you.
