Saturday, September 3: Scripture – Psalm 1:1-3
1 Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path that sinners tread or sit in the seat of scoffers,
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
Prayer Focus: You might have noticed the hashtag on these daily devotions for the last month or so has been #BearingFruit. We have not talked much in the devotions about bearing fruit, but we have been focused on being faithful followers of Jesus. In our Annual Vision of Ministry for this new program year, I am personally focusing on how our connections to Christ, one another, and neighbors near and far bear fruit. How are we like trees planted by streams of water which yield fruit in its season? Where are our roots and how do we prepare ourselves so that fruit might grow on our branches? Pray for your roots and your fruits today.
