Saturday, September 10: Scripture – 1 Timothy 1:15-16
15 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the foremost.
16 But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience as an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.
Prayer Focus: Paul has a variety of places where he sums up his gospel. This text is one: The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Christ came for you and for me. Not to give us a chance to be saved if we so desired, but as an expression of God’s intention for the world. Christ came to save. Due to his former persecution of Christians, Paul believes the fact that God chose to save him is the ultimate example of God’s forgiveness and mercy.
