Saturday, October 22: Scripture – 2 Timothy 4:16
16 At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them!
Prayer Focus: Paul’s life as a witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ was not an easy one. In yesterday’s text he references someone who strongly opposed the message. Today we hear that in Paul’s first defense no one came to his support. And yet with the grace of Jesus himself on the cross who said, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing,” Paul prays that his friends deserting him will not be counted against them. Do you have that kind of grace? Can you offer that same forgiveness, especially to those who have deserted you in a time of need? Pray for the ability to grant this gift today.
