Scripture – Hebrews 10:28-29

28 Anyone who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy “on the testimony of two or three witnesses.” 29 How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by those who have spurned the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?

Prayer Focus: When we pull these verses out of context, I find nothing but fear. And yet, reading in the midst of this longer chapter we cannot forget that we approach the throne of grace with confidence because Jesus has made a way for us. We will never be good enough or pure enough or faithful enough to earn God’s love and our salvation. Thanks be to God that God loves us first and through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus has spared us of the punishment this verse suggests.
