Saturday, May 28: Scripture – Acts 16:35-37
35 When morning came, the magistrates sent the police, saying, “Let those men go.”
36 And the jailer reported the message to Paul, saying, “The magistrates sent word to let you go; therefore come out now and go in peace.”
37 But Paul replied, “They have beaten us in public, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they going to discharge us in secret? Certainly not! Let them come and take us out themselves.”
Prayer Focus: The magistrates change their mind and order Paul and Silas be let go. But Paul again refuses to be released in secret. Justice demands a public release and apology for they have done nothing wrong. Pray for those who try to brush wrongs under the rug or put away disputes quietly without justice. It may be uncomfortable to demand justice, but pray for the courage to see justice done today.
