13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?”
14 I said to him, “Sir, you are the one that knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Prayer Focus: Who are these who have gathered in the throne room to worship God? We might suspect that they are those of great faith or exemplary lives. We jokingly say they are the ones that St. Peter let in when they arrived at the pearly gates. But the elder tells John that the ones gathered have come out of the great ordeal. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. It is not the popular and the powerful who find themselves at the throne. It is those who have suffered, who have persevered, who have kept the faith. Think in your own mind about someone who “came out of the great ordeal.” Give thanks for the faith and witness of that saint in your life today. Pray that others might see that same kind of faith in you.
