Saturday, February 13: Scripture – Mark 9:9

9 As they were coming down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one about what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

Prayer Focus: Sometimes it seems like Jesus is trying to maintain a secret identity in the Gospel of Mark. Jesus continually tells anyone who has knowledge of his true identity – from unclean spirits to the disciples – not to tell anyone who he is. It is a secret. It is clear to us as readers who Jesus is, but these calls to characters in the gospel to not share what they have seen remind us that we never fully understand who Jesus is without the cross and empty tomb. After the transfiguration, Jesus orders the disciples to tell no one about what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. Do not be satisfied with Jesus as merely a teacher and healing. He is the Messiah who died for you and was raised for you. Pray that you might share the full story of Jesus today!
