Monday, September 12: Scripture – Luke 16:1-2: 16
1 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was squandering his property.
2 So he summoned him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give me an accounting of your management because you cannot be my manager any longer.’
Prayer Focus: Most of us like to avoid confrontation. Whether we are doing the confronting or being confronted ourselves, there is little to no joy in the task. It’s the beginning of conflict, and generally, we all struggle with conflict. Jesus begins this parable with a confrontation. We don’t know yet what the outcome will be, or who in the story will act faithfully and righteously, but we do recognize the feelings of tension in these two verses. As we examine this parable this week let us also examine where we hold tension in our own lives. Pray today that you might respond to moments of tension and conflict with faith, hope, and patience.
