Monday, November 25th: Scripture – 1 Samuel 1:9-10

9 After they had eaten and drunk at Shiloh, Hannah rose and presented herself before the Lord. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. 10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.

Prayer Focus: This week of Thanksgiving is also the final week before the beginning of the season of Advent. For devotions each day we will hear Unity members share about their favorite Advent and Christmas hymns and on Sunday morning we will read and preach from the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke. As we prepare for this season, we turn to another biblical story of Hannah, one waiting for a child. For years, despite the love of her husband, Hannah remained barren. Her family had gone to Shiloh for a yearly sacrifice when Hannah presented herself before the Lord. She is deeply distressed, prays, and weeps. Do you have a deep longing that you need to present to the Lord this week? Can you even find the words to pray? Trust that God hears even your deepest sighs.
