1 O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.
2 The Lord has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
Prayer Focus: We will consider two passages from the lectionary this week. The first is Psalm 98. As I was reading this psalm, I was struck by the very first line, “O sing to the Lord a new song.” It seems that God’s people have been struggling with what to sing for quite some time now. What struck me this week was this old, old song from the Psalms is calling us to sing a new song. We sing because the Lord has done marvelous things. Where do you see the Lord doing marvelous things today? Whether it is with a familiar song or a new one, lift your voice to let the world know.
